Since 2015, our goal has remained the same: to create meaningful connections and bring career readiness insight and skill-building opportunities to high school and postsecondary students, their parents, and community job seekers.
Inspired by philanthropic initiatives and dedication to volunteerism by our colleagues, we’ve designed Community Workforce Programming in conjunction with Central Ohio schools and youth-serving organizations to reach future and current job seekers in our community.
Our programs create a strong early talent pipeline for our recruiters and hiring partners in the Columbus Region. Participants gain access to updated workforce reports and are equipped with the professional skills required for success in the workplace. Employees sourced through our Community Workforce Programs are already dedicated to personal growth, career development, and becoming more productive community members.

Collaboration is the heart of our success. We proudly partner with local businesses, schools, and organizations to create pathways to employment. These partnerships help shape our programming, ensuring we meet the evolving needs of the workforce while supporting students and job seekers in achieving their career goals.
Evan Rulong at The Graham Family Schools shares, “Dawson's Community Workforce Programs have opened our student's eyes to the world of work after high school. Having a partner who can come in and share their expertise with our students, who are the emerging workforce, has set them up for successful transitions towards becoming young professionals”.
We offer a range of workshops that cover various aspects of professional development, including communication skills, leadership development, time management, problem-solving, and teamwork.
The content of each workshop is tailored to the specific requirements and goals of the participants, ensuring maximum engagement and practical application.
Crafting a compelling resume is crucial in today's competitive job market. Our workshops provide comprehensive guidance on resume building, including tips for structuring, formatting, and tailoring resumes to specific job opportunities. Participants will learn how to highlight their key skills and experiences effectively.
Interviews can be intimidating, especially for job seekers who are new to the job market or seeking career transitions. We offer thorough interview preparation sessions that cover both general interview strategies and industry-specific insights. Participants will learn how to present themselves confidently, answer common interview questions, and showcase their skills.
Mock interviews provide valuable opportunities for participants to practice their responses, refine their interview techniques, and receive constructive feedback from experienced professionals. This process allows them to gain confidence, identify areas for improvement, and increase their chances of success in actual job interviews. Throughout the past ten years, Dawson has conducted hundreds of mock interviews with students and community job seekers helping prepare them to be workforce ready.
Ted Williams at Grove City High School in South-Western City Schools shares, “The mock interview unit that Dawson assists me with is an authentic learning experience for my students. I have had several students come back to share that they got a job, specifically because of how Dawson helped prepare them”.
Throughout the year, we host and support various workforce development events, including:
