7 Tips
to Stay Productive in the Office

The age of distraction is upon us, with lingering social media posts, chatting with co-workers, and the short attention span of the world today, it can be hard to stay productive throughout the work day. Here at Dawson, our Employment Experts have some tips and tricks to share today on World Productivity Day.
#1
Set small goals
Goal setting is a great way to stay productive in the workplace. These goals can be as small as wanting to finish a certain task before the end of the hour or the goals can be larger and require more time. Either way, setting goals is a great way to stay productive.
#2
Don’t multitask
Many people believe themselves to be excellent multitaskers. In reality, the brain is incapable of multitasking properly. A great way to be productive is to limit multitasking and focus on starting and finishing one task at a time.
#3
Make a to-do list
To-do lists are a great way to organize the tasks that need to be done in a way that is very easy to complete. Whether it is a daily, weekly, or monthly to-do list. It is a foolproof way to stay on task.
#4
Take a break
Many people think taking a break is the least effective way to stay on task but it is the opposite. Taking a break is a great way to “reset” your mind and get back on task. So if you feel yourself starting to feel unmotivated, take a short break to get back on task.
#5
Get up and move around
Sitting at a desk all day can be unmotivating. A good way to get the blood flowing is to simply stand up and stretch or walk in place. Another way is to take a short break and go for a walk around the office or outside if the weather is nice.
#6
Keep your workspace organized
A clean and organized workplace is a great way to boost productivity because there are less distractions within your area. A clean workplace is also a less stressful environment which also ups productivity.
#7
Put your phone away
For many people, social media is the largest distraction from being productive. So, put your phone away and silence your notifications. Your productivity will skyrocket without this huge distraction that everyone has in their pockets.
